‘Zero tolerance for violations’: FSSAI directs 5-star hotels ahead of Brics Summit

NEW DELHI: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued directions to major five-star hotels that there should be a “zero-tolerance” approach towards food safety and other violations ahead of the two-day Brics Summit in the national capital.“FSSAI issued clear directives emphasising zero tolerance for any violations,” ANI quoted sources as saying.The directions were conveyed recently at a crucial meeting convened by the food regulator with representatives of leading five-star hotels across the country, where a “zero-tolerance” approach towards violations of food safety measures was stressed ahead of the Brics Summit.“The meeting centred on evaluating current regulatory compliance, hygiene benchmarks, kitchen safety protocols and overall food safety. All major five-star properties reported strong adherence to safety norms and shared positive updates on their existing compliance frameworks,” the sources added.Ahead of the Brics Summit, the FSSAI has significantly ramped up random inspections at five-star establishments to ensure strict compliance with hygiene and food safety standards.
